Summer Fun

There really is not much about summer that I dislike and those few things (namely mosquito, sunburns and allergies) I am willing to tolerate for lovely weather and all the fun things that go along with it!

There is just something about the warm weather that makes me feel at peace.

I am really looking forward to making a lot of memories this summer. So far, we have a road trip planned to go back and visit family and friends take in some local attractions. A must see on our list is this Dam that neither my husband nor I ever went to while living in the area.

We will also be definitely getting out for some camping trips as it is one of our favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors. Catching frogs, swimming, hiking, campfires, and all the rest of the fun that goes along with it.

Other things that have me excited about Summer include:

-Harvesting our home grown foods. We planted three times and as many carrots this year as they sure taste better than store bought!
-Weekend day trips and hikes  – we really want to check out some of the waterfalls close to us
-Beach days – relaxing while the kids play on beach or joining them to build a sandcastle or cool off!
-Relaxed schedule - no rushing kids out door in morning, no after school activities, school meetings,  fundraisers, concerts, etc..
-Outdoor dinners - nothing beats a nice grilled dinner enjoyed relaxing in the backyard
-Seasonal fruit – I love the variety of fruits available (and the prices) strawberries, raspberries and watermelon are our favorites!
-Corn on the Cob – slathered in butter with salt and pepper. There is a farm a few hours away that sells the sweetest corn and we always buy some when it hits grocery stores!
-Festivals and events – Canada Day at the park, fireworks, other local events
-Ice cream -   especially stopping at the local outdoor ice cream stand
-Walking barefoot – I start my day each morning by getting out in the backyard to water my plants. Our dog always knows when I’m heading out and comes out to keep me company. I love the feel of grass under my feet.

What are you looking forward to this Summer?
