Menu Plan Monday - May 23 2016

This past week went by without me getting a whole lot done since after I finished my amoxicillin to treat my ear infection I broke out in a rash. A head to toe, itching all over rash that had me leave work early heading straight to the walk-in clinic. 5 days of steroids, daily allergy medication and lots of rest and I am finally able to get back to my regular routine.

To catch up on everything I missed this last week, meals are going to be pretty low key and easy this week, since we also have a lot of meetings/appointments/school events going on this week too. I have spent the weekend doing some heavy duty purging/house cleaning and plan to continue with this work despite our busy week. I am also trying to clean out our deep freeze so that I can defrost and properly clean it out so these meals will help with that goal too!

Menu Plan Monday

Boy oh boy was this Monday ever a know the ones where things just seem to not go the way you want. It was honestly one of those days at work that had me not liking my job that much. We have also been dealing with some ongoing vehicle issues that we think are resolved but you can just imagine my frustration when my vehicle would not start after coming out of the grocery store on my coffee break. Turns out that it simply was the end of life for my battery so got it replaced yesterday. Happy it was just routine maintenance this time.

How our vacation got extended by a day

It's been just over two weeks since we got back from our vacation. Twelve days away is the longest we have spent away from home in years and it was a great trip. But, as I am sure you can all relate it always feels good to go home too. Just when we thought our vacation was over, we had an unexpected delay in getting home.

As planned on the day we left to fly home we finished packing our things, then headed out to spend the last few hours we had hanging out making memories with my Dad before he dropped us off at the airport.

In order to be able to get home in one day and not have to catch a VERY early morning flight we flew out of Toronto airport, an hour's drive away from my Dad's rather than from Hamilton. 

We had a few stops along the way, going from Toronto to Calgary, a wait for the next flight to Vancouver,  and then waiting for our  flight at 9:45 pm from Vancouver to home.

Things were going pretty good, we had a bit of a rough landing in Calgary but thankfully had a bit of time to wait until our next flight. At this point, Karensa was saying her tummy didn't feel good and we thought either it was from the bumpy landing or the fact that she hadn't eaten anything except snacks since breakfast.

Menu Plan Monday - May 9/2016

It's been just over a week since we got home from our vacation. And while it was great to be home I quickly realized a couple things, the main one being that I hadn't actually cooked a meal in the two weeks we were gone! My Dad either cooked us something yummy or we ate out or went to visit with family for dinner at their place. 

The 2nd thing I realized was that it was going to be important for us to get back into our regular routine. With our anniversary, my birthday and Mother's all happening in the last week we certainly did not follow our regular meal r\outine either.

So this week I am happy to be back on track, planning out our meals for the week and linking up as part of Menu Plan Monday with Organizing Junkie.
