I sat down and wrote this after our daughter woke up over an hour early one day this week just a wee bit excited to see what was left in the advent calendar. Enjoy!
‘Twas the last night in November, when all through the house
Tree and decorations were found, including the book “The Christmas Mouse”.
The Advent calendar was hung with care,
With hopes in the morning a treat would be found there.
The parents convinced the kids to go to their beds,
Who only protested a bit before pulling up the bedspread!
Sharing of treats not an option, they placed not one but two
Without getting caught by their kids, Whew!
The parents retired to bed, ready for sleep,
Crossing fingers to not hear a peep.
Not enough hours had passed,
When a child came in like a blast!
She exclaimed for all to hear,
There’s a treat in there!
Too early the parents say,
Now back to bed and stay!
Time comes to start the day,
Parents are wondering away.
Will tomorrow be the same?
Is this just a game?
Curious minds want to know,
Do your kids put on the same show?
"thought so"

It's hard to wait when you're six, you know?

Oh my gosh, kids are the worst at sleeping when something exciting is about to happen. My kids pop up WAY too early!
