Decorating with wall decals: Vinyl Disorder Review

Living in rental units we used Wall decals to spruce up the kids bedroom walls as it was a great non-permanent solution.

I had always wanted to put up a wall quote in our bedroom but there were so many to choose from and I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to apply something with words rather than the characters we were used to putting up in the kids room.

When I was given the opportunity to review a vinyl wall decal from Vinyl Disorder I figured it was time to decide on what I wanted and get that wall quote up in our room. It was also great timing since buying the house this past summer and wanted to put our personal touch on the place.

It took us a bit of time to look through all the wall quotes as there were so many to choose from but we finally found the one we wanted.  In fact Vinyl Disorder has over 70,000 images to choose from and they have decals for vehicles, walls and tons of other uses. Our decal arrived quite quickly and I liked that it was shipped rolled in a tube to avoid damage during transit.

We started by measuring the wall to find the middle and marked it with a pencil. I then measured the decal and marked the middle on that so we could line it up. Then we carefully removed the backing paper, being sure to go very slowly and if some letters were coming off you had the backing to stick them to the transfer paper (we used a ruler) before continuing to remove the backing.

Then it was time to place the decal on the wall. We used our laser level to make sure the bottom of the transfer paper was level. We pressed the paper down, smoothing with our ruler. Then as we removed the front sheet again going slowly to make sure the decal was adhering. Any spots where it wasn't we would rub the front paper with the ruler again before continuing.

I was very happy with the finished product and the color instruction sheet included with the decal was easy to follow. I will be adding decals to other rooms in our house as I especially want to find somewhere perfect to put up the I LOVE YOU Sign Language decal.

  3. Love it! Thanks for posting! Truly a great way to decorate. I think simple wall decals (with class) can really add life to any room. I recently bought some wall silhouettes (safari animals) from www.LifeSizeSilhouettes.com to dress up my boy's room. What a difference! I was really pleased with them. Keep up the good ideas!
