The #1 lesson I learned in 2012

I originally shared these pictures as a Wordless Wednesday post. When reviewing all my posts last night to write my favourite things review for 2012 I just knew I had to share these again as the #1 lesson I learned in 2012.

Lesson learned: Black gel based food dye will actually come {mostly} out of a microfibre couch, however, it would be best to not accidentally leave this stuff out where your preschooler can find it to use as finger paint!

THE CULPRIT
CAUGHT BLACK HANDED

THE MEDIUM USED

We did end up calling in a professional cleaner at this stage who was not able to work any magic on it. Thankfully, he told us this after testing a small area and let us stop the work without charging us. And leaving behind some "samples" of the cleaning solution they used and a complete binder full of info regarding cleaning fabric.

  1. Oh my Gosh! I would have cried over this one. Our furniture is basically like yours, same color and material it looks like. You know what I found to really help with lots of stains is the Tide stain remover. I have used that on lots of things and it worked great. Wonder if that would take our remaining stains?

  2. Oh my! This is precisely the reason why we bought the most inexpensive couch we could find ;) Yours doesn't look too bad, though considering... How long did the monkey show evidence of her fingerpainting?

  3. OMG!OMG!!OMG!!! Do I remember those days--they are funny now but not so much when it was happening at the time.. What a sweet little face--how could anyone be upset with that little angel. Hopeful you did get the most of out.To bad that even the pros couldn't fix it perfect again.. Truly a valuable lesson.

  4. Woah.. I better watch myself not to leave any dye/paint on the living room. This is a good reminder especially for those people who bought new stuffs just this holiday season. Thanks for sharing.

  5. OMG I can't even imagine you must have just died when you first looked at this. Yes sometimes we are mindless and leave things around and the little ones will see an opportunity and get into it like I have magic marker on my bathroom door that I can't get off that has the letter J on it for Jasmine lol. Good thing they are cute and we love them eh? lol

  8. Oh dear! We swapped our micro fibre couch this year for a free hand me down, and I don't miss that fabric - every piece of fluff and fuzz seemed to stick onto it!
