Kid's Say The Funniest Things.......

The men in my life are always finding ways to keep life interesting...

So while driving home last week my husband looks over at me and suggests that I buy him an Elf costume for Christmas. After a brief pause and a questioning look, he quickly clarifies that he in fact means for me to purchase and wear a sexy elf costume (lingerie) for him. No sooner than I can let out a chuckle and tell him no chance, I hear the voice of our son coming from the back seat that says,

"Well if mom won't wear the Elf Costume for you Papa, I will."

At this point my husband and I are trying not to burst out laughing but can't get over the fact that our nine year old has just offered to wear sexy lingerie for his father. He kept saying, "I'll wear it for you papa, please, please, I really will!". We than explained to him that we were talking about women's pyjamas and after a brief moment and to our relief he then stopped asking to wear the elf pyjamas for his father.

Here is another funny one to come out of Nathan's mouth over the last week (he is on a roll it seems).
After having had a particularly a long day I was looking forward to a relaxing evening at home. Unfortunately, this was also the evening my husband is off teaching Karate for the evening leaving me alone with two rather uncooperative kids.
Exhausted, I helped our son with his homework assignments, while playing referee between him and his affectionate sister who had been waiting patiently all day to pester her older brother. I managed to squeeze in some household chores and after what seemed like a lifetime I was finally close to getting our son Nathan into bed.
He continued to procrastinate, avoiding getting things done for his bedtime routine. At this point as you can imagine I was already frustrated. It was late, and having to repeatedly ask him again and again to do a simple task, he responded with this, "You know, when I am sixteen I can make my own choices."

"Really?!" I said (insert eyes rolling here). He said, "Yes, and my first choice will be to stay at home until I am 30!"

Man oh Man, we are going to be in trouble with this one I can tell. If only he knew how much he truly was torturing me that night and then to end it all like that. At that point I just politely asked him to go to bed as I was done with the whole thing. Forget all the stuff that wasn't done JUST GO TO BED!
What funny things have your kids come up with?

  1. Oh man, I was a preschool teacher for 8 years and wish I kept a journal of the things my kids would come up with. I have a 2 year old girl now and she is beginning to tell all sorts of things in public. The latest one, was to walk up to a dear lady at church and tell her that mommy pees and sits on a potty.

Thanks for visiting Humble Pie, I'm a new follower now too.

  2. LOL!! That is so cute. Thanks for stopping by and following my blog. I'm following back now. - Amy

  3. Thanks for the follow! And for the great comments! I keep a journal of my boys' comments - the memories and also to give to their future spouse! (kidding!)

  4. Thank you for making me laugh out loud!! These ones will definitely need to be retold once the little man gets older.
