Bad Start to my day

After this morning I REALLY do not recommend starting one's day by accidentally smashing a plate on your toe. While reaching to grab a pot lid to put on rice was cooking for dinner, there was a dinner plate precariously perched underneath it which fell and smashed into my foot. Given that I was only Six am I resisted the urge to SCREAM and hoped around a bit before looking at the damage. The end of the plate smashed into the toe just behind the nail and scraped some skin off the toe next to it to. The middle toe got the worst of it and there is some bleeding under the skin and some definite bruising. Plus it HURTS. So I hobbled around, finished cooking rice, checked email and Face book and proceeded to head to work.

Showed it to someone at work who does First Aid Training and got some band aids and direction from her on taping my toes together and made it upstairs in time to hide under my desk for the Earthquake Drill. Yes, today October 19th at 10:20 was the Great BC Shake out Drill. Granted everyone knew it was happening so a number of people at my workplace just decided to go for coffee instead. But hey I am sure they can figure out to get under their desk if an earthquake really hits.

We have felt some here from Vancouver and it was a bit freakish to see the Windows swaying back and forth during one, but we are not in too much of a high risk zone, but always good to practice.

Check out this website for more info...http://www.shakeoutbc.ca/  If you live in an earthquake zone, make sure you know what to do!I will have to see if N participated in this at school today.

Took it easy tonight and took the kids to watch Rio, at movie night at N's school. Now to get some housework done while waiting for J to get home and then maybe watch one of Thursday Shows (Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy)...

I refrained from posting a picture of my toe as it really is not looking that great and a picture of my foot would really not be something you want to see.

  4. Hi Tara! I'm a new follower from the hop! It's nice to meet you! :-) I had to laugh a bit at this post--dropping a plate on your foot is SO something I would do! Usually I injure my toes by walking too close to the furniture and bashing my foot into a leg of a coffee table or something! It's always hard not to scream out a curse word in front of the kids... why are toes so little, but they hurt so darn much?? LOL

Anyway, I hope your toe is doing better! It's nice to meet you, and I hope you can drop by my blog sometime! I write a humor blog about all things motherhood. It's usually good for a laugh, and sometimes even a snort or two! Hope you can stop by!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Thanks everyone. Went to the doctor today and toe is not broken but is a bit infected and bruised so got a prescription cream that is apparently much better than polysporin and good for any cut/scrap that looks like might be getting infected.
